ミハイル・カラシク

1953年3月27日、ペテルブルグ生まれ。
現代ロシア・アヴァンギャルド芸術において、
アーティスト・ブックという独自のジャンルを確立し、
世界的にも大変注目されている芸術運動の
理論、実践両面のリーダーとして活躍するアーティスト。

Artist, publisher, curator. Born in Leningrad in 1953.
Lives and works in St Petersburg.
Main techniques: easel printing, books, posters and objects.
Contributes to exhibitions since 1978.
Creator of artist’s books since 1987.
Member of the Union of Artists since 1988.

Mikhail Karasik is one of the leading creators, ideologues and promoters of
the artist's book in Russia; publisher of more than ten books and catalogues on
artist's books and early-twentieth-century Russian avant-garde culture; author
of over thirty articles on artist's books and modern art; curator and ideologue of
such local festivals of experimental art as the Kharms Festivals (1995, 1996,
1997, 1998); initiator and publisher of the OTTISK Imprint specialist bibliophilic
almanac of printing; curator of such exhibitions of artist's books as Paper
Theater in St Petersburg (1992, 1994), The Book Garden in Great Britain (1995-
96), Contemporary Russian Artist's Book in the United States (1998--99),
Bookcamera or The Book and The Elements in St Petersburg (1997) and
Hamburg (2001), The Artist and The Book in Russia 1910-1930 … Russian
Artist's Book 1990-2000 in Frankfurt-on-Main (2000) and The Latest History of
Russian Artist's Book in St Petersburg (2002), Kharmsizdat Presents: Russian
Dada, OBERIU-Box, Literary Constructivism, Leningrad Literary Underground in
St Petersburg (2003) etc.
