本名 Francis Vincent Zappa．1940年12月21日，バルチモア生． 1966年から1993年に前立腺ガンのため没するまでに，The Mothers of Invention，The Mothers，及びソロ名義で60枚に及ぶ作品を発表． 　Zappa さんの音楽に初めて接したのは，1970年代前半，友達に聴かされた "Uncle Meat" でした．他の追随を許さないユニークな音楽に魅了され，以来中毒患者となり，新譜が出る度に大騒ぎして聴いてました．
